What to Expect

The Wes Helms baseball camp is structured as a learning experience for each individual camper. It offers individual attention to campers so that they may truly learn and understand all aspects of the game as thoroughly as possible. Our professional athletes instruct participants on proper mechanics, helpful practice drills, and mental preparation so that a players may perform to the best of their abilities when it comes to game time. Our instruction and advice blend together to build a sturdy foundation for each athlete so they learn what it takes to potentially become a successful professional baseball player.

The camp strives to push young players to explore their talents and abilities, as well as, leave the camp with some real-life advice that may help them continue in life on the best paths possible. Participants will spend the day visiting a variety of different stations where they will learn the basic mechanics of the game, and they will also spend time listening to the professionals communicate some of the experiences they have encountered in their careers thus far.

Our instructional stations include the following:

• Hitting - Strengthen hand-eye coordination, improve directional hitting, and refine bunting techniques. This stations will also work to improve at-bat statistics in the way that each hitter watches pitches approaching the plate.
• Infield - Learn step-by-step instructional drills focusing on fielding ground balls, turning plays quickly and efficiently, and fielding to your backhand side.
• Outfield - Gain a better understanding of how to properly catch a fly ball, as well as, balls that bounce off the fence, tricks to making catches more easily, and knowing where to throw the ball infield once it has been caught.
• Pitching - Develop the proper mechanics for throwing the ball with increased speed, concision, and control. Campers will learn how to place their body most effectively in the set up, wind up, and finally the pitch.
• Speed and Agility - Learn the fundamentals, skills, and techniques for base running to potentially improve player statistics such as the on-base percentage, stolen base percentage, and number of runs scored.

Having the chance to learn directly from a well-known major league baseball player is quite an opportunity, but having these professional athletes join in on the experience with you is an even better one. We have recruited some of the league's best and players in which we are confident that they will make a positive impact on each young player's game and life. Last year's camp proved to be an exciting time for our campers, as well as, for our professionals. The campers left with ample amounts of beneficial instruction and advice about baseball in addition to some perspective on life in general.
